“Microsoft has worked with Nitobi to bring their PhoneGap HTML5 developer framework to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
PhoneGap, it’s an open source mobile framework that enables developers to build applications targeting multiple platforms, by using standard web technologies (HTML5, CSS and JavaScript).
On Windows Phone 7 this provides another option besides Silverlight and XNA for developers to bring their apps to the platform.
The current beta version includes most of the basic features, and includes JavaScript APIs to use Windows Phone Mango features like:
Access Device Information (UDDI and stuff)
Add and search Contacts
Connection status (network / wifi connection status)
Alerts/Notification (alert and confirm)
Media Capture (Image and Audio)
Camera
Accelerometer
Geolocation
A recent survey by Appcelerator & IDC’s of mobile developers has shown 66% of developers interesting in developing on the HTML5 platform, and this framework will ease access for those developers to the Windows Phone 7 platform.
